Have you ever felt invisible at your OB/GYN appointments?

Have you ever felt like you were just a number?

Do you leave your prenatal appointments with more questions than answers, unsure of what comes next, and unsupported in your choices?

It doesn’t have to be this way

You deserve care that is personal and empowering.

You deserve a fertility and childbearing experience that is safe, supported, and unique to your family. And you deserve to truly know your midwife and the care team that attends you in this oh-so-personal moment.

I became a licensed Certified Professional Midwife for just that reason - to provide safe, supported, empowering, and gentle options for families in Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia.

I believe in the strength of women and the transformative power of birth.

My husband and 3 year old daughter came to all the prenatal appointments and were included in my care. My daughter actually refers to Chloe as one of her friends now!

My husband loved how involved he was able to be during this pregnancy. Throughout my care, I felt heard, respected, and educated. Chloe always responded to my texts/phone calls in a good timeframe. By the end of my pregnancy, Chloe had become part of the family. We would recommend her to anyone who is wishing to have a home birth experience.

Your Birth Alchemist

I’m a local girl who has lived all over the country but the Eastern Shore has always had my heart.

America’s Coolest Small Town (aka Berlin, MD) is my hometown and I live there with my three crazy cuddlebug dogs.

For as long as I can remember, people have sought out my thoughts on all things birth and holistic women’s health.

When I was just 7 years old, I read my first birth book. It was Mamatoto by The Body Shop (still a great one).

When I was 9, I hid in a closet and studied up on how to catch a baby - just in case my mom went into labor with my little sister and I was the only one around to help her.

Real plausible, I know!

I wanted to be prepared.

When I was 16, I met my first midwives at an herbal conference.

Jeannine Parvati Baker introduced me to the fertility awareness method and conscious conception. Three Guatemalan midwives shared their indigenous teachings around birth and postpartum. Rosita Arvigo taught Mayan uterine massage.

I left that conference so lit up that I can still feel the exhilaration.

But birth work was still a few years off. I provided prenatal and postpartum doula support for the first time in 2006.

I studied to be a birth doula later that same year.

I attended my first birth in the spring of 2007. A stunningly beautiful water birth that took my breath away.

I’ve been madly in love with birth ever since.

Since 2007, I have supported families in hospitals, birth centers, and at home. Home birth called to me above all else, so I started academic midwifery study in 2010.

From 2012-2014, I apprenticed in various home birth practices. During that time, I also worked in our community to make Certified Professional Midwives a legal and licensed profession in Maryland and Delaware.

In 2015, I moved to El Paso, TX to complete clinical training at Maternidad La Luz - a nationally accredited midwifery school and the highest volume independent birth center in the United States.

After I completed my training in 2016, I worked as the practice manager and home birth assistant with Kindred Hearts Community Midwifery in Dover, DE.

Midwifery stole my heart because it holds women and families at its center. The pregnant person (re)discovers their own way of birthing while the midwife holds space and skills to support them. The basic underlying principles of midwifery care are connection and respect.

Historically, from menarche through birthing years and on to menopause, midwives have been a woman’s primary care provider. A midwife is a guide, healer, mentor, and friend walking with you.

It is an honor to accompany you through the many changes of your reproductive life.

Thank you Chloe for your unwavering support from day one. I was able to achieve my dream “pain-free” home birth thanks to your belief in me and your knowledge. This experience is one I will never forget. I am forever grateful for our time together.
